Contrastes Relevantes: A Series of Creative Experiences
Join us for our conference, Contrastes Relevantes. One day, six speakers, plus opening and closing parties.

Contrastes Relevantes showcases the professional and personal life experiences of six designers, primarily of Hispanic and Latino origins.

The Hispanic community plays a large part in the culture of San Antonio. As creatives, we represent and elevate our cultures, communities, and those causes we stand for. AIGA San Antonio and Contrastes Relevantes aspire to give the Hispanic creative community a platform to share their experiences with the intent of bringing together the different cultures and disciplines that drive major change and progress.

Eli Flores
“Freelance Basics...and Other Chingadéras You Should Know”
The evolution of freelancers in the agency world (both Hispanic and general markets) and how the basics are still the fundamentals to success. From the approach, through execution, to getting paid what you’re worth, this talk can give freelancers, and creatives in general, an edge in learning to talk, question and interact.

Cesar Rivera
“A La Vez: A Panel Discussion with Stephanie Gallo, Rolando Murillo, and Cesar Rivera on the Creation of AIGA SA”
In 2009 a small band of designers decided to begin the next chapter in the San Antonio design scene. Hear how this determined group of creatives set out to start AIGA’s 68th chapter, make a lasting impact on the local design community and gain national recognition.

Nicte Cuevas
“A journey Into Starting a Design Business and Finding Your Creative Edge”
Get ready for a journey full of surprises. You’ll go from being a designer to a massive promotion: boss, accountant, project manager, receptionist y más. On top of that, you’re trying to figure out HOW to stand out in the market and land clients. From failures to success, you will learn a no-fluff approach to equip yourself with the right tools to thrive, no matter where you live.

Keynote Speaker: Rolando Murillo
“Con Todo Respeto”
A candid look at how Latinos and Hispanic cultural identities are interpreted and presented through the lens of graphic design in Texas. It’s a guided exposition of the good, the bad, and la cagaste.
